The DYNOMET portable road dyno is a device mounted on a vehicle's wheel which measures the vehicle's power by accelerating it in one gear on a stretch of straight road. It can be used on many types of vehicles regardless of the power they generate and what type of drive they have.

The DYNOMET portable road dyno can measure the power of
passenger cars, sports cars, 4x4s, SUVs, vans, light trucks and heavy trucks!
If you can attach the sensor to the wheel and accelerate the vehicle on a stretch of road,
the DYNOMET will measure its power.

The DYNOMET portable road dyno differs from typical roller dynos in that the sensor usually located on the rollers measuring their rotations is attached to the vehicle's wheel measuring its rotations. The typical roller dyno's software knows the roller weight and circumference thereby allowing it to measure power. The DYNOMET portable road dyno's software simply uses the weight of the vehicle and the wheel's circumference. That's it - that is the only difference and the principle is the same - a certain mass is accelerated to a certain speed. The rest of the test looks exactly the same. On the roller type dyno the car is accelerated in selected gear and the rollers simulate the road; when using the DYNOMET, it is accelerated on the road.

The DYNOMET portable dyno can measure:
- power and torque,
- any acceleration (0-100 km/h, 0-160 km/h, 80-120 km/h itd.),
- 1/4 mile time and speed,
- braking distance.

The sensor has a resolution of 60 impulses per one revolution allowing for precise measurements
.

The DYNOMET portable dyno has many advantages:
- precision: if the weight and wheel circumference are correct, the margin of error is less than 1%
- the vehicle is tested in its natural environment, with perfect cooling of all crucial components, which can be a problem while testing in a workshop,
- the software was developed with road tests in mind - to perform a standard power test usually around 800 meters of relatively straight road is required.

The DYNOMET software allows comparison of up to 4 graphs and has in-built DIN70020 temperature and air pressure compensation.

Advantages over a standard roller set dyno:
- no maximum power limit; the DYNOMET portable road dyno will measure any power as long as an adequate stretch of road is available,
- ability to test vehicle's acceleration,
- tests cars in their natural environment,
- does not take up valuable workshop space,
- price!

DYNOMET portable dyno consists of:

- wheel disc with optical sensor,
- controller,
- 5 x 21mm clamps,
- 5 x 19mm clamps,
- 5 x 17mm clamps,
- USB cable,
- software (Win XP, Vista, 7, 32 and 64 bit),
- aluminium case.

Price: 2190 Eur
(this is the net price exclusive of VAT for companies
with EU VAT number; prices for companies outside
of EU are +23%)

A laptop is needed to operate the DYNOMET dyno and it is not included in the package.

The DYNOMET portable dyno is upgradable to a roller type dyno since the controller and software is
the same throughout the entire dyno range.
